Wine for Whiners Pt. 2

Crawling in the grass, slinging grape juice that will one day be wine! Another day in the life of La Familia Thombaum.

Wine for Whiners Pt. 1

When Ryan was in town from Seattle recently, we were lucky enough to be invited up to our friend Karen's family's place in Santa Rosa for a grape harvest/winemaking event. The four of us toiled in the fields with several other guests, picking Pinot Noir and Sangiovese grapes, before moving on to winemaking operations. Leo was moderately impressed by the vineyards, but loved crawling around in the grass and playing in the sandbox.

Take Us Out to the Ballgame!

We managed to catch one of the Giants' last home games this year, and what a gem! A beautiful day at the ballpark, a win over the Cubs and some hot dogs. Leo started off a bit skeptical, but he came around and had a blast. More games in '10, and hopefully a slightly better outcome on the season.

Something About this ExerSaucer

Makes me feel chill. And thirsty.

Who's this Rob Guy?

And how did I get in his shirt?

Swinging: Still Really Fun

Swinging remains one of the favorite activities. Here at Mission Playground, we swung and we swung good.

Standing Tall

Leo's been up and at 'em a lot these days. Ever since we came back from Ohio, he's all about pulling himself up on anything and everything. Somehow, I know where this is going...

Leo 'n' Tula

Leo and Tula love each other, and love to go to the park. Observe:

Aunt Rose!

Aunt Rose got to meet Leo for the first time too. She's the elder Leo's sister, and was thrilled with the new little guy.

Leo on Leo

One of the best parts of our Ohio trip is that Leo got to meet Leo! The original: Uncle Leo. Leo Jacob is Laura's mother's mother's brother, and a very sweet man. His son, "Little Leo" is no longer with us, and greatly missed. Baby Leo was thrilled to meet his namesake, and I think the feeling was mutual.

Krazy for Kousinz Part II!

The best part about cousins is... Ticklefest! Leo wasn't sure what to make of this at first, but - wow - he sure did enjoy it. And when it was over, he wanted more.

Krazy for Kousinz Part I!

Leo got to meet his cousins Abby and Mallory and, woah, was he a big fan. They were sweet to him too, getting down on his level and everything (this was in the church).

Good Times in Rising Park

While in Lancaster, we visited Rising Park, a city park where Grandpa used to play, sled... do kid things. Now it's Leo's turn. Fortunately, they had - swings! It was a hit.

Grandpa Time!

We started our Ohio tour in Lancaster, where Laura's dad and stepmom live. It's where Leo learned to pull himself up into a standing position (more on that later). Step-aunt Jen stopped by too!

I Went Back to Ohio Part I

Last month we all went to Ohio, where Laura is from, to visit family and celebrate Laura's mom's marriage. It was tons of fun, and included lots of quality time with relatives, including the original Leo! But first, we had to get there...

Leo's a pro when it comes to planes. He's now been on FOUR plane flights, and Ohio is the FIFTH state he's now been to. Kid's a champ.

Hi, Great Cousin Jon

Laura's cousin, Jon (Leo's Great Cousin then, right?) was in town recently. He and Leo like each other.
